Young people have always been crazy about music, as music seems to express their feelings, frustrations, joys and all those things they can't express by themselves. It has always been like that and most of the times they were considered rebels for listening to a particular kind of music that changed over time. Any way, the point is that music is an important part of our lives, and especially young people would like to listen to music everywhere they go, without any restrictions of space and time. That is why people who manufactured radios and then all kinds of media player devices thought that it was imperative to make portable music players. So the walkman came into being and later, the iPod. It was actually invented in 2000 and it took people from Apple about a year to finish all the details and to release it on the market. So if you ask me "When did the iPod come out?" I can ask you for sure that it came out to the public on the 23rd October 2001, after being intensely advertised.
Initially the iPod was only used for playing music and allowed users to take it everywhere with them and listen to over 1000 tracks while they were walking, jogging, going to school or relaxing in the park. They could do this even without annoying the people around, as most people use iPods with attached headsets. It was a convenient way for everybody to be happy.
Apple did not stop there and tried to improve its features and design constantly, that is why they released new versions of iPods almost every six months. There's the iPos Classic that everyone knows and the iPod mini and now the iPod Touch that has a touch sensitive screen and the latest version - the iPod Shuffle that also includes a special interface that allows the users to play video files and also play certain games. There are different models and different colours of iPods for everybody, so that you can choose the one that fits you best, the one that is representative for your personality.
I admit that I asked myself the question :"When did the iPod come out?" a few times before I googled it because this little device that looks so simple and unsophisticated draw my attention exactly because of its popularity. My guess is that even the Apple people who contibuted to this device as a project were a bit surprised to see that the iPod sold in over 200 million items all over the world and it set a trend among the youths. Even if it came into being almost ten years ago, the iPod is still very much popular and people use it for entertainment purposes, for listening to their favourite music while doing their daily activities.
This device was released almost at the same time with other digital devices because that was the period when these kind of gadgets started being very popular and there was a real boom of digital electronic devices of all kinds back than starting with camcorders, digital cameras, iPods and others. But even if I am very satisfied with the present look and functioning of this device at the present, I'm dying to know what the Apple guys will invent next time they release an updated version.
