When it came out last year, the iOS 3.0 would promise lots of new features and applications. Apple told its customers that the iPhone OS 3.0 would have over 100 new features and applications, including the long awaited Copy and Paste feature.

The copy and paste feature is used to copy content saved somewhere on the device and paste it somewhere else. In order for it to start, you have to double tap the screen. Once you do so, a bubble will pop-up with three options: Copy, Cut, and Paste. After you select one of these options, you can go somewhere else and double tap the screen again to summon the Copy and Paste bubble and choose the "Paste" option. This works not only on text, but inside photos and applications as well. The Copy or Paste selection you made can be easily expanded, by using your thumbs, and once you have selected and pasted something you didn't want to by accident, you can always shake your iPhone a little and undo it. Another interesting feature in iOS 3.0 is the new Spotlight application. This is practically a search engine which allows you to search all over the device (every piece of data it contains, as long as it is supported). Fan application can also be searched with the new Spotlight if it is used to support the feature.
You can see in this screenshot how the iOS 3.0 equipped iPhone is able to contain search result from Maps, Applications, iPod and Adress Book at the same time, all showed in the springboard presented by it. Searching among applications such as Mail, Calendar or iPod can also be done with their own search interface. The Mail search interface does not support messages yet, but you can search on IMAP servers, which will win you a lot of time when logging into your Gmail account.

Another cool feature is the 3G Thetering, which allows you to use your iPhone as a modem for your laptop, but it is probably that your carrier will have to sign off on this, meaning they will charge more as well. Although the landscape keyboard is not something new to the iPhone, it is new in the iOS 3.0 because it is now supported in applications such as Notes, SMS and Mail. If you have a friend, who does not own a mail-support mobile phone, you could always send him a MMS, which is a new feature in iOS 3.0, and support text, music and video, all in one message.
