Other people complained that they bought second hand computers and the previous owners left the password on the device , but did not tell it to the new owner, so he is now angry and wants to know how to reset the master password on Macbook. As usual, before writing this article I had no ideas how to do this, but we learn something new every day of our lives, so i did some research and surfed the apple forums, looking for the right answer and after that I checked it with one of the guys I know who is a computer specialist.

It seems to be rather easy if you know what you are doing and if you have the right stuff at hand. I mean you can reset the master password on a Macbook if you have a copy of the restore CD or OS X install DVD that was given to the Macbook owner when it was purchased. It really does not matter that the operating system is already installed because you will not go all the way to reinstall it all, but only a few steps until you can recover or better said set a new password to the system.
Once you have inserted this CD or DVD in the DVD drive, double click the icon on the desktop and it will start running and you will see a Restart button. press it and restart the Macbook directly from the CD, but only until you can get to the Utilities menu where you will be able to reset the password, as one of the entries there says "Reset password". Change the password, then select "Quit" from the installing menu , then restart the computer and sign in with the new password. This should normally work.

If I think of this for a little longer I realize that instead of trying to reset the system password it's better to reinstall the operating system completely, because it's not your stuff on that Macbook any way, so why would you want access to it? Of course the exception is the case where you forget your password. But I seriously doubt that you can forget it as you set it in the first place and if you use your Macbook every day ( everybody else does) there's no way you could forget it. Any way, it's up to everybody's choice. but remember that if you could do this someone else can, too, so you'd better take some serious precautions if you have valuable information on your device.
