Remove Hard Drive From iMac

In order to resolve this problem you will need a Philips, a Torx T8, T6 screwdrivers, 4 suctions cups, an antistatic mat and the new hard drive. In case that you are signed up for Apple Care Support’s list you have the possibility to return your computer to the service and they will replace your iMac’s hard drive. Tip number one is to locate a clean and flat surface where you have to place the antistatic mat. Then put your iMac computer with face down on the antistatic mat.



Tip number two is to locate on your computer’s side the slender and long aluminum panel which is situated at your iMac’s back side. For tip number three you will need a Philips screwdriver because you have to remove the screws which hold the panel. Then you have to take out the RAM with your fingers carefully. Tip number four is to turn on your iMac and stick the four suction cups over. Then you have to remove the screws which are situated on the display frame. For this process you will need the T8 Torx screwdriver. You will find near the Apple logo two screws that you have to remove in order to lift the aluminum case away. Tip number five is to remove the remained screws near the logic board. You will find three screws at the display’s top side and four screws at the vertical side. Then you have to disconnect the black wire which is connected to the logic board.



Tip number six is to remove your iMac computer’s display completely. After you have access to the plastic house which contains the hard drive you have to take it out carefully. Tip number seven is to disconnect the SATA cables and the power supply. For this process you will need the T6 Torx screwdriver. Then you have to insert the new hard drive into the empty bay. Finally, you can reattach the cables and all you have to do is to follow the above presented instructions but in a reversed mode.
