PearC – The German Mac Clone!

posted in news, by Codrut Nistor

I am laughing my ass off here, wait a minute... Just think about a new PC vs Mac video ad - coming from Microsoft - in which the PC is mocking the Mac for its clones. On the other hand, some video entitled "Revenge of the Clones," combining footage from "Attack of the Clones" and "Revenge of the Sith" would be an interesting work... But leaving fun aside, Apple has a lot of things to worry about - because even Germany has its own clones, now!
PearC Mac Clone
HyperMegaNet UG is a German company selling Mac clones without any shame, and the top model, called(obviously!) PearC Professional, can easily outrun any iMac with a similar price - or even the expensive Mac Pro.

Just look at the default configuration of the PearC Professional computer - Intel Core i7 920 processor, 1TB hard drive, 6 GB DDR3 running at 1333MHz in Triple Channel setup, a GeForce 9800GT graphics card with 1 GB of memory, a 22X DVD writer, Firewire 400+800, Wireless LAN, USB Bluetooth stick, and Mac OS X Leopard. Pricing for this one is 1499,00€(about 1,930 bucks).

If the above sounds too expensive, you could try the PearC Starter, with only 2 GB of memory, Intel E2200 processor, 250 GB disk drive, GeForce 7200GS video card with 256 MB of memory, and Mac OS X Leopard, for only 499,00€($640).

Our advice? If you want a reliable computer, you can get the PearC, but try using it with Windows! We know these setups look extremely tempting, using such a clone with Leopard is against Apple’s EULA, first of all, and you will also get an unstable computer, operating system, and user experience, due to lack of compatibility. On the other hand, you won't get Apple quality support, so... if you want to go with the clones, you have been warned! Don't come back here to complain, all right?
