The MacBook is a brand of laptops made by the Apple company. the first MacBook was introduced back in 2006 to replace the previous generations – the iBook and the PowerBook. The MacBook laptop became very popular, and it is actually the best selling Macintosh computer in history. This is not all, because the mid range model from the MacBook family was the best selling laptop in 2008 in the United States of America . You can choose between 3 designs for the MacBook, first there is a polycarbonate casing, then a unibody aluminum casing and also a unibody polycarbonate shell.

There are 3 families of notebooks in the MacBook family, first there is the classic MacBook, the MacBook Pro laptop and also the MacBook Air. They differ from one another in size and thickness (the MacBook Air is the thinnest and lightest) in technical details and in prices. And of course the MacBook Air is the most expensive one. For today we’ll focus on just one of these models, and we’ll choose the MacBook Pro laptop. This is the middle version, so it is not as big as the simple MacBook, but also not as thin as the MacBook Air. It is also less powerful than the Air but less powerful than the classic one and its price is also somewhere at the middle. The starting price for the classic MacBook is 1,000 dollars, the starting price for the MacBook Pro is 1,200 dollars and the starting price for the  Air is around 1,500 dollars.

In the MacBook Pro family there are 6 models to choose from and all of them have an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. But they are different from one another in the size of the display screen, and in the rest of the technical details. So now let’s discuss a few words about each model. First there is the one with a display screen of 13 inch and a Intel Core 2 Duo processor @ 2.26 Ghz. This model also has 2 GB of RAM memory, a hard drive of 160 GB, a SD card slot, an NVIDIA GeForce  9400 graphic card and a price of 1,200 dollars. The next version also has a 13 inch display screen, but a better processor (an Intel Core 2 Duo with a speed of 2.53 Ghz). The RAM memory is also bigger (4 GB) and the hard drive has a bigger capacity of 250 GB. The price for this model is 300 dollars more – so 1,500 dollars.

In case you want a MacBook Pro with a screen of 15 inch, you will have 3 versions to choose from. All of them have the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a RAM memory of 4 GB, a SD card slot and a battery which can last for about 7 hours. And now here are the differences between them. The first model has a processor @ 2.53 Ghz, a hard drive of 250 GB a NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M graphic card and a price of 1.700 dollars.   The second version has a slightly better speed of 2.66 Ghz, a bigger hard disc of 320 GB, a NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M + 9600 M GT with 256 MB and of course a bigger price of 2000 dollars. And finally the third version has an even better speed for the processor – 2.8 Ghz, an even bigger hard drive of 500 GB and a NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M + 9600 M GT with 512 MB. The price for this version is 300 dollars more – so it costs 2,300 dollars.

And finally there is the most expensive versions of all, one that has the same features as the one we mentioned before - Intel Core 2 Duo processor @ 2.8 Ghz, 4 GB of RAM, 500 GB hard drive and NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M + 9600 M GT with 512 MB…but a bigger display screen of 17 inch. And of course this is the most expensive MacBook Pro, and it costs an amazing 2,500 dollars. This model also offers you an improved battery and a Express Card / 34 slot.

So here were a few words about the MacBook Pro laptops. In case you too own one of these models, tell us all about them. We wait for your comments and until then, have a nice day!

Apple is a big multinational company that is originally from the United States of America  and which produces many kinds of electronic devices and computer software products. It has the headquarters in California, and it operates in many other countries of the world having around 35.000 employees. Some of the most famous products made by Apple would be: the iPod, the iPhone, the iMac, the MacBook, the iTunes, the MAC OS X operating system, the Apple TV and others.

For today we’ll discuss more about one of these products, and we are going to choose Apple TV. This is a digital media receiver and it is a small device which has a simple design that is made to play digital video content. All you need to do is connect it to a browser such as iTunes Store, Youtube, Flickr or to any Windows or Mac OS X computer and enjoy any video content. You can view the content on a regular TV or on a High Definition TV. It can work as a digital media receiver, but also as a home theater connected iPod device. It was initially launched in March 2007 with an initial storage capacity of 40 GB. After just 2 months Apple came with an Apple TV update, and it made the version with a storage capacity of 160 GB. The products was improved againg in 2009, when Apple launched a third version, one that can work much better with widescreen displays. The iTunes integration system and the internet radio stream were also improved.

This device is almost like a computer, and it has a memory of 256 MB DDR 2 SDRAM (400 mhz) and an Intel Pentium M processor with a speed of 1 Ghz (this processor is known as the Intel Crofton). The dimensions for the Apple TV are: 197 mm x 197 mm x 28 mm (7.7 x 7.7 x 1.1 inch). Since it is playing video files it also needed a graphics engine, so it has a NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 with 64 MB of VRAM memory. And as we mentioned earlier, the hard drive has a capacity of 160 GB. Even though the Apple TV didn’t had any update, and the capacity remained the same as it was in 2007, this is quite enough even today.

As we said it is similar to a computer in many ways, and it also has connectivity and networking features. And these are:
-USB 2.0
- infrared receiver
- HDMI
-Component Video (video and audio cables are not included with Apple TV)
- 10 BASE – T / 100 BASE - T Ethernet
-802.11 b, g, n wireless networking (AirPort).

The video output details are:
- 1080 p / 1080 i 60/ 50 Hz (but maximum video resolution is 720 p)
-720 p 60/ 50 Hz
-576 p/576 i 50 Hz (PAL)
-480 p/480 i (480 i is unofficially supported) 60 Hz
-…while the audio features are: digital optical audio and RCA analog stereo audio

The Apple TV uses a 48 w power supply, it has dimensions of 197 × 197 × 28 mm (7.7 × 7.7 × 1.1 in) and a weight of 1.09 kg (2.4 lb). the starting price for this device is 230 dollars, and it can be quite useful if you want to watch movies, pictures or TV shows at High Definition quality, and also if you want to listen to music from iTunes on your home theater audio system. For watching movies you will need a TV with HDMI, DVI or component video input port and for music you will need an audio system, and in case you want to listen to the music from iTunes you also need a broadband internet connection. It is true that you can all of these things and many more with a computer or a laptop, but this device can be a cheaper alternative. In the box you will get the Apple TV device, the power cord, printed documentation and also a useful remote control. In case you too own an Apple TV  we invite you to tell us all your opinions about it. Have a nice day!

White 13-inch MacBook

A laptop offers a lot of advantages and of course the biggest of them is the portability. A laptop can do all the tasks that a desktop computer does, it has the same components as a PC (processor, hard drive, CD/DVD drive, RAM memory, keyboard etc) only that it is much smaller, lighter, so it’s highly portable. But of course a laptop is also more expensive than a desktop computer with the same characteristics. So if you really want to have a laptop, but you just don’t have enough money for a new one, you can always choose to buy a second hand notebook. You can find a lot of them, some in a better shape others in a worse shape, in so many places such as local retail stores that are selling used devices or on the internet on auction sites such as ebay.com, amazon.com and others.

There are many companies that are producing good laptops today, and Apple is one of them. For today we’ll present one of its laptop models, a white 13 inch MacBook. This is a good looking laptop with a unibody design, with a weight of just 4.7 pounds and a thickness of just 1.08 inch. So it is highly portable, and can be easily taken wherever you go. And even though it is so small and light, it is still quite tough and resistant. It has a LED backlit widescreen display of 13.3 inch, with a supported resolution of 1280 x 800 p.

Since it is a netbook, it doesn’t have a full size keyboard, and it has all the keys except the numeric ones. The keys are specially curved so that they can fit with your finger tips and give you an comfortable writing experience. Below the keys there is the Multi Touch trackpad, which has many features. You can click anywhere on it for activating the left click, you can also use the right click, you can scroll with 2 fingers, you can pinch to increase the font size in a document, or rotate your fingers to flip a picture and also swipe to navigate through web pages. All the ports are located on one side of the laptop, meaning that all your cables will stay well organized. It has these ports: MagSafe power, Gigabit Ethernet, Mini  Display Port, USB, and audio in / out.  The overall dimensions of this white 13 inch MacBook are: Height - 1.08 inches (2.74 cm), Width: 13.00 inches (33.03 cm), Depth: 9.12 inches (23.17 cm) and a weight of  4.7 pounds (2.13 kg).

So these were its features on its exterior, but let’s look at the ones that really count, the technical details. Its processor is a 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 3 MB on chip shared L 2 cache running 1 : 1 with processor speed, 1066 MHz frontside bus. It has an ok RAM memory of 2 GB DDR 3 SDRAM @ 1066 mhz, supporting up to 4 GB. Its hard drive has a capacity of 250 GB and a speed of 5400 rpm, and you can optionally choose a hard drive of 320 GB or even 500 GB. The optical drive is a 8 x double layer SuperDrive (DVD ± RDL / DVD ± RW / CD - RW), and it also has a Lithium Ion battery  which consumes 60 watt / hour and it can last for up to 7 hours. While plugged in, this laptop operates with a line voltage of 100 V to 240 V AC and a frequency: 50 Hz to 60 Hz. It also has built in stereo speakers and a built in omnidirectional microphone, and it also supports Apple Stereo Headset with microphone. It has both wireless (built in AirPort Extreme 802.11 n Wi-Fi wireless networking; IEEE 802.11 a / b / g) and Ethernet connectivity (built in 10 / 100 / 1000 BASE - T Gigabit Ethernet with RJ 45 connector) for easy access to the internet. And it even has built in Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) wireless technology.

Used Apple MacBook

The laptops are really popular devices these days, and this is because they have many advantages. And since so many people prefer to buy a new laptop instead of buying a new desktop computer, there are also many companies that are producing laptops. And some examples would be: Hewlett Packard (HP), Toshiba, Asus, Dell, Sony, Acer,  MSI, Apple, Fujitsu and others. But for today we’ll focus on just one of these companies – Apple.

So far Apple had produced three “families” of notebooks: the iBook, the PowerBook (these are the older models produced until 2006), and the MacBook which is produced today. And of course each of this family of laptops has many models accessible, with different technical details and prices. So if you have decided on buying an used Apple Macbook you can search for one in the local stores but also on the internet. There are many sites where you can find them and one of them is usedapplelaptops.org. The site itself does not sell notebooks, but it offers you a collection of used laptops found on other sites such as ebay.com. So to not spend a lot of time on auction sites and search for the model you want, you can simply visit this site, and you will be redirected to that specific model of laptop found for sale on ebay. You can find all the types of Apple notebooks here on the site (iBook, PowerBook and used Apple Macbooks) and today we’ll discuss about a model of PowerBook laptop. And we’ll talk about the Apple PowerBook G4 with a screen size of 12 inch and a price of just 92 dollars.

At the first sight it may seem too good to be true…a laptop that when it was new had a much higher price (probably more than 500 dollars) and now costs just 92 dollars. Well actually it is too good to be true, because this specific laptop has  a few problems. It has a PowerPC G4 processor @ 1.5 Ghz, a CD-RW / DVD combo optical drive, a screen of 12 inch, an installed operating system – Mac OS X 10.5…but this is all. It doesn’t have any RAM memory so you definitely need to buy one to use it. So you will spend about another 40 dollars for this one. But the good part is that you can buy as many RAM as you want (or at least as much as the laptop allows you). Maybe this laptop first had …let’s 512 MB of RAM but now you can buy 1 GB of RAM so it will work much better. The seller does not specify anything about the hard drive, so we don’t know for sure if it has one, or you need to buy this too. If you decide to buy this laptop you may send a message to the seller first and ask him if the laptop has any hard disk.

The problems don’t stop here, and the battery on this one doesn’t work either. So you may take it and use it just at home or at the office, connected into the power source, or you can buy a new battery if you want to take it with you when traveling. But even so, after buying some RAM memory and a battery you will go around 200 dollars total spending, which is quite ok considering that other used Apple PowerBooks cost 300 dollars or more. Or if you don’t want to invest some more money into this laptop, you can just buy it as it is for 92 dollars, and use it for parts (you can take its processor, or optical drive, and even the keyboard or TouchPad) and use them on another similar laptop.

Used MacBooks

The laptops are very popular devices these days, and this is because they offer a lot of advantages. And of course the biggest one is their portability. A laptop has the same components as a PC, only that all of them are integrated into a single unit. And this unit is much smaller, lighter and thinner than a regular desktop computer. Besides the small dimensions and laptop has a rechargeable battery, which can last for a few hours, meaning that in this time you can use your laptop anywhere you go. There are many good producers of laptops today, such as: HP, Asus, Acer, Dell, Lenovo, Toshiba, MSI, Fujitsu, Apple but for today we’ll focus just on Apple.

The actual laptops produced by Apple today are the MacBook, the MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air. They are really powerful devices, with advanced technologies included. But they are also very expensive, with prices beginning over 1,000 dollars, and which can go over 2,000 dollars. So in case you don’t have so much money, you can buy an used MacBook. Depending on the model you choose, it may cost a few hundred dollars, but probably more than 500. so in case you really want to have an Apple laptop, but you just don’t have enough money, then you can buy an older model. A good site to find used Apple laptops is this one . You will find many different models, including some used MacBooks and also older laptops. Among these ones there are iBooks, Power Books and others. Of course the older models are not as powerful as the newer ones, but they are also much cheaper.

So in case your budget is not that big, you can start searching at the iBook and PowerBook categories. For today we’ll discuss more about one of these cheap laptops, for example the Apple iBook A 178 which has a price of just 100 dollars on the site. Actually the laptops are not sold by this site itself, and once you click on a model you will be redirected to ebay.com, or to other auction sites where people are selling these products. This model is refurbished, meaning that most of its problems were fixed. It has quite a small display screen of 12 inch and acceptable features. It is definitely not a powerful laptop considering the standards of our days, but in case you are planning to do just the basic, simple computer activities it can be quite ok.

And here are its technical details:
- processor type – Power PC G 3
-processor speed (per. Core) – 500 mhz
-processor configuration – single core
-RAM memory – 320 MB
-Hard drive capacity – 10 GB
-Screen size – 12 inch
-Optical drive – CD ROM
-Operating system – MAC OS X 10.4, Tiger
-Product family – iBook<
-Weight – 4.2 lbs
-Software – iLife installed, Microsoft Office installed, Airport Card installed + wireless capabilities

So it may not be the best laptop, but it can be a solution in case you are looking for a really cheap Apple laptop. You can’t even expect for more for just 100 dollars.
