Anyone here, like to listen to police scanner? I only hope locating and listening to police dispatch frequencies throughout your country is fully legal, because for me, it's not. Anyway, doin' it without being caught can't be such a big crime, since sometimes you can go and help someone before the cops get to the scene. The good part is that, from now on, you won't need anything else but an iPhone and the Police Scanner software!

According to its creator's description, "Police Scanner for iPhone is a fun and useful tool for locating and listening to police dispatch frequencies throughout the country. Over 500 EMS operations stream their dispatch communications on the Internet. Police Scanner for iPhone connects to these streams and allows listeners to stay informed."
Since volunteer fire fighters, news crews, and emergency responders are the main target of this application, I think it should go free - at least for the volunteers, anyway. On the other hand, I am sure $1.99 won't leave you broke, so if you want to take advantage of this introductory price, you should go ahead and grab this app from iTunes.
Unfortunately, there's also a warning - "NOT ALL AREAS BROADCAST AN iPHONE COMPATIBLE STREAM. This is still a new technology for many police, fire, and dispatch centers. A stream from your local city may not yet be available," so if you still have some old-school Police Scanner around, you may want to keep it.
