MacBook Pro

MacBook Pro represents a line of portable type of computers that was introduced on the market in 2006 by Apple Inc. These computers have been presented as the followers of  PowerBook G4 computers. They have been often included within the same category as iMac as a part of the Apple-Intel transition that has become familiar among all computer users. There are three sizes in which MacBook Pro can be found on the market: the 13 inch MacBook Pro, the 15 and the 17 inch MacBook Pro.

Those who are familiar with MacBook Pro computers already know the fact that there are two different designs presented by these computers. What is important to be mentioned at this stage is the fact that both of these two designs include the use of aluminum. The first MacBook Pro computer was known as the Discrete MacBook Pro and it was presented by Steve Jobs on January 10, 2006. It was a 15 inch portable computer that was followed by its 17 inch version that was presented on the market in April.

Many users who have analyzed its features have agreed with the fact that some important changes and improvements could be discovered in its case. For example, its dimensions were different than in the case of its predecessor, PowerBook G4. Its weight was the same but it was 0.25 cm deeper, 0.25 cm thinner and 1.0 cm wider than its predecessor.

There are also other important changes that could be discovered when comparing MacBook Pro with PowerBook G4.  It included a built-in type of iSight webcam and a power connector known as MagSafe which was mainly appreciated due to the fact that it could be easily detached from the computer. In what concerns the speed of the optical drive included by MacBook Pro it can be said that it was reduced in comparison to the one presented by PowerBook G4 especially due to the necessity of adopting it to the slimmer form factor presented by the new product.

What might also be interesting to be mentioned is the fact that this new portable computer presented by Apple Inc did not include a dual layer DVD writing type of support. But, what could be discovered to be included within it were the Express Card slots that were considered as the replacement of the PC card slots that could be encountered in the Power Book G4.

The 15-inch MacBook Pro models were known to include two USB 2.0 ports whereas the 17 -inch models included three such ports. A FireWire 400 port was known to be included in both of these two versions of the MacBook Pro. An important change made to the MacBook Pro line is represented by the inclusion of Intel Core 2 Duo processors, change that was presented to the public on October 24, 2006.

Such changes continued on February 26, 2008 when new updates could be discovered in the manufacture of MacBook Pro computers. Such changes refer to the LED type of backlighting made available for those interested in the 17- inch version of these computers. The processors were updated to Penryn cores and in what concerns its hard drive and memory capacities it can be said that they were increased as well.

Numerous other such updates and changes were made in time in the case of MacBook Pro and they have been more or less appreciated by different computer users according to their own preferences in this case.
