Mac OS X 10.5.6 Update Is Near

posted in software news, by Codrut Nistor

Updates, updates, updates, that's what I hate about computing. If cars would have more things in common with computers, I am sure most drivers would drop them and get a bike, but - fortunately for them - cars are (usually) working properly "out of the box." Anyway, when talking about Mac OS X 10.5.6 update, things are not looking too bad, especially since each new Mac OS X update has to handle less security holes than the Windows updates we see popping up on a regular basis...

According to AppleInsider, developers received build 9G55 of Mac OS X 10.5.6 on Wednesday, and "people familiar with the matter say Mac OS X 10.5.6 Server was also synched up with the client software and now carries the same build number, typically a telltale sign that both distributions are being primed for a public release."

In other conditions, this would be just another release for internal testing, but this time those anonymous inside sources claim that "both the client and server distributions currently reflect no known issues," so since everything is fine, the release date of Mac OS X 10.5.6 update to the public can't be that far away...

At last, you should be aware that Mac OS X 10.5.6 update for home users will have over 100 bug fixes and enhancements, and most important of them seems to be an improvement of MobileMe's automatic syncing, especially for those computers with medium to high latency Internet connections.
