iWork 2009 Moves Higher!

posted in software news, by Codrut Nistor

Yesterday's keynote left me with a bitter sweet taste, and it's not really because what happened there, but simply because I expected more. After all, it's not my fault Apple set its standards in innovation so high a few years ago, but let's leave innovation aside and look at the small steps made by the Cupertino-based company, like its online complement to the iWork 2009 suite.

iWork.com is currently in "Beta" stage, and its purpose is to allow iWork users to share and collaborate on documents in multiple formats, being accessible right from within the iWork application.

The most interesting part is that you can easily export documents straight to Google Documents, and then work on them from the Web, leaving aside restrictions related to the OS you're using and your location. Sweet!

As usual, the sad news arrive in the end - while the "Beta" is currently available for free, and you can access it from iWork '09, as I mentioned above, iWork.com will become part of a paid service later this year, when Apple expects it to go live...
