iPod Touch Jailbreak Methods

posted in iPod, by adimoga

The iPod,as well as other Apple products like the iPhone or the iPad comes with certain restrictions even though the variety of functions and abilities is huge in its case. However, there are certain programs created by hackers that allow you to bypass these restrictions or requirements. The usual word used for describing this operation is "to unlock" an iPod. In time, several methods of unlocking an Apple device were discovered. The only question now is: Which is the best method?

RedSn0w is a iOS jailbreaking method that unlocks the device by reading the stock firmwire which is available for download on iTunes. Old firmwire versions could be deleted from iTunes, but you can download them from several other internet locations. After the reading of the firmwire has been done, RedSn0w runs a payload directly on the device in the form of a ramdisk. When situated in the process of being jailbroken, the device will also enter the Device Firmwire update mode. This allows users to install the popular third-party application named Cydia that gives one access to the device's root directory and file system. The RedSn0w is available for Windows and Machintosh.

Here is a tutorial of how to use RedSn0w to jailbreak your iPhone:
For this you will need iTunes 9.2.Next and you must download iOS 4.0 for Windows or Mac. After that, you can plug your iPod.Hold down Shift (or Alt on the Machintosh) and select the iOS 4.0 that you have just downloaded, and wait for the updating process to end. Next, you have to run the RedSn0w software ,and when you will have to locate theĀ  ISPW corresponding to your firmwire, select the firmwire that you have just downloaded.A prompt will ask you if you have the MC model of the iPod touch. You can go to Settings-General-About to find out what model you have. After that, select "Next" and select the options that you want to be enabled (it is advised that you always keep Cydia selected). Now you can plug your iPod (make sure it is off) and enter theĀ  DFU mode and follow the on-screen instructions. After a reboot, your iPod will be jailbroken and good to go!

JailBreaking your iPod using the Pwnage Tool
