iPod Shuffle Playlists

posted in iPod, by adimoga

The iPod Shuffle is a digital media player developed and produced by Apple Inc.The iPod Shuffle is the smallest model currently available within the iPod family and it was the first iPod to use flash memory. Firstly introduced on January 11,2005,the iPod Shuffle currently reached its fourth generation in September 2010.

The first iPod Shuffle was released in January 11,2005, and it was designed to easily load a number of songs to play in random order.A study made by Apple shows that most iPod users like to use the "shuffle" mode when it comes to songs' order,so they came up with the iPod Shuffle which implements that in a more cost effective fashion.

The player uses an auto fill feature that automatically fills the iPod Shuffle as much as its memory allows it to with song from the user's iTunes library,or from a specific playlist. Apple estimates that the 1 GB version of the device can store up to 240 songs with four minutes per song at 128 kb/s). It uses the SigmaTel STMP35xx System on a Chip(SOC) and its Software Kit(SDK) version 2.6,a flash memory IC and a USB rechargeable lithium cell. STMP35xx, its software and SigmaTel was Austin's largest IPO capturing 60% of flash based MP3 player were the fully integrated portable MP3 player playback systems on the market in 2004.

The iPod Shuffle lacks the display, trademark scroll wheel, and playlist management functions,as well as games, calendar, notes or an alarm that are present in the case of larger iPod models. It cannot be used with iSync, and due to the fact that the codecs are not ported, it cannot play Apple Lossles and AIFF music files. However, the iTunes presents some new features such as the ability of reducing songs to lower bit rates. This is performed automatically and the original file is untouched as the lower bit rate song is transferred to the iPod Shuffle.Older versions of iTunes allowed users to edit iPod Shuffle playlists even when the device was not connected, but this is no longer available in the case of iTunes 7 versions.

The iPod Shuffle's front side includes buttons for play/pause,next song/fast forward, previous song/fast revers, and volume adjustment keys.On the back side, there is a battery level indicator and a three-position switch which allows users to toggle through, to turn the device on, to select the normal play mode, or to select the shuffle play mode. The player has a battery life of twelve hours between charges. It can be recharged through USB 1.1 or 2.0 directly to the computer.

The same connection is used to transfer data with the help of a computer. The USB is covered with a cap. The Shuffle also comes with a lanyard that allows his/her user to wear the iPod around his/her neck. The iPod Shuffle can also be used as an USB flash drive,as iTunes allows users to select how much of the iPod's memory will be used for storing music, and how much will be used to store files.
