If I think well, apart from these mobile platforms we're going to talk about today once again, Apple and Google don't have any products that go head to head. Well, the iPhone and Google's Android aren't exactly going head to head, either, since we're talking about a 6 to 1 score here! So far, we had a few encounters with the topic, but despite this, no sales figures were available. Now, things have changed...

...and I don't know if I should be happy or sad, because I highly appreciate both Apple and Google, but 6 to 1 is nothing less but pure ownage! Just think about this - according to Morgan Stanley's research notes, T-Mobile USA probably sold some 300,000 touchscreen G1 handsets since its late October launch by the end of last year, while the research firm had a estimation for the same period of 1.75 million iPhone 3G units sold through AT&T only, which is almost 6 times greater than the estimation of G1 units sold mentioned above!
This doesn't really mean that Android is destined to fail, but the carrier providing services for the handsets had a great impact on buyers' choices, since AT&T's 3G coverage is much better than T-Mobile's, and if we go outside US, it's enough to say that the iPhone is currently officially available in no less than 70 countries, while the G1 only made it to the United Kingdom...
Closing this article, all I can say is this - despite the fact iPhone managed to crush the Android-based G1, this was like hunting rabbits with a rocket launcher. When both handsets will fight having about the same advantages, that would be a great time to return to this subject, but until then...we must accept facts the way they are, since - most of the time - life ain't fair.
