iPhone 4

You don’t need to be a specialist in the domain of mobile phones to have seen, used or at least hear about the iPhone. It is a great smartphone produced by the company Apple, one that was launched in 2007 and which had sold millions of copies so far. It has a lot of features such as: a large, touchscreen display, a phone camera, a music player, internet access, a virtual keyboard, lots of applications that you can use and so on. Since it was released, there were 4 generations made. The first one was the classic iPhone, the next was the iPhone 3G, then there was the iPhone 3GS and the latest one is the iPhone 4.

About the first three models we discussed more in previous articles, so for today we’ll discuss about the newest one, the iPhone 4. it is the successor of the iPhone 3GS and it is particularly made for video calling, using media content (such as books, movies, music and games) and also for general web and email access. It was released quite recently, in June 7 2010. One of its attracting features, that makes it different from the previous models is the design.

This new design incorporates a uninsulated stainless steel frame which acts as the antenna of the device. And to understand it better, let’s look closely at its technical details. It uses both 2G and 3G and its features are: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 for 2G and HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 for 3G. It may not be the smallest phone on the market, but it is really slim. Its dimensions are: 115.2 x 58.6 x 9.3 mm with a weight of just 137 g. it has a LED backlit IPS TFT, capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors, a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels and a diagonal of 3.5 inches. This screen has a scratch resistant surface, an accelerometer sensor for auto rotate, a three axis gyro sensor and also a proximity sensor for auto turn off. Since no one is using polyphonic ring tones no more, and since this is a new phone, it uses only MP3 ring tones. It has practically unlimited entries and fields for the phone book, and it records 100 received, dialed and missed calls.

It has an internal memory of 16 or 32 GB, depending on the model you choose. And even though it doesn’t have a card slot for expansion, 16 or 32 GB should be more than enough for most of the people. It has a RAM memory of 512 MB and its connectivity features are: GPRS - Class 10 (4+1 / 3+2 slots), 32 - 48 kbps, EDGE - Class 10, 236.8 kbps, 3G - HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps, WLAN - Wi - Fi 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth – v 2.1 with A 2 DP, USB - v 2.0. Unlike most of the smartphones that don’t have a very good camera, the iPhone 4 does, and it comes with a 5 MP camera with a res of 2592 x 1944 pixels, autofocus, LED flash, Touch focus and geo tagging. This camera can also make videos, with a quality of 720 p @ 30 fps. But this is not all, because this phone has 2 cameras, and the other one is a camera for video calling which works only over Wi-Fi.

The operating system that is using is the iOS 4, and it also has an Apple A4 processor with a good speed of 1 Ghz. You can send SMS, MMS and also e-mails with this phone and the browser that is using for internet is the Safari. Its battery is a standard Li – Po 1420 mAh, which can last for up to 300 h in 2G (stand by), up to 300 h in 3G (stand by), up to 14 h when talking (in 2G), up to 7 H when talking in (3G) and up to 40 h when playing music. Enjoy it!
