iPhone 3.0 Beta

posted in software news, by Codrut Nistor

A few days ago, the Internet was boiling. Rumors, of course, that was the reason. Nothing special, so far. What kind of rumors? Well, iPhone 3.0 rumors! Now, it's all official, since the March, 17 event is behind us, and there's a page with details right on Apple.com.
iPhone 3.0 Beta

To spare you the effort of going through all the mumbo-jumbo on that page, here's the essential part:

"With the new SDK, members of the iPhone Developer Program can build applications that do even more. Developers will have the tools to enable in-app purchases — like subscriptions, additional game levels, and new content. They can also create apps that connect peer to peer via Bluetooth, communicate with hardware accessories, and use the Apple Push Notification service to provide alerts."

Finally, we'll get copy-paste! It was about time, Apple, it was about time...so here's the brief list of hot features to arrive this summer(apple claims over 100 new features will be introduced):

- Search your iPhone
- Cut, copy, and paste
- Send photos, contacts, audio files, and location via MMS
- Read and compose email and text messages in landscape

Unfortunately, MMS messaging will only be available to iPhone 3G users, and additional fees may apply. The new iPhone SDK and iPhone 3.0 Beta software can be downloaded already by iPhone Developer Program members from the iPhone Dev Center now, while the rest of us will have to wait until June, I guess.
