iMac Review And History

posted in iMac, by adimoga

The iMac is a range of Machintosh desktop computers developed and produced by Apple. The first version of Apple came out in 1998 and since then, the iMac is Apple's primary desktop computer offering for public consumers. The first version of iMac is called iMac G3 and has the shape of an egg, with and CRT monitor positioned in the back, covered by a colored, translucent plastic case.

The second version of the Apple device, the iMac G4 has several changes made, like a LCD screen being implemented, over the first version rough CRT screen.Other changes were made to the screen's base, which is now semi-spherical and supports a mobile neck that lets the user move the display according to his wish. The iMac G5 and Intel iMac(the 3rd and 4th installments of the Apple iMac serie) present various adjustments as well,as now all components are stored in the back of the LCD screen. These installments are slim and more good-looking.The new version of iMac looks about the same as the old one,but this new version uses anodized aluminum and a thin glass over the entire display.

On July 27,2010,Apple decided to update its iMac line to a version that includes Intel core processors. The low and high end 21.5" feature an Intel i3 processor,as the high end 27" offers quad-core i5(with the possibility of upgrade-ing to i7).The low and high end 21.5" are also upgradeable to i5 processors.

The design of the new iMac is different as Apple has decided to remve the black back and put a seamless aluminium enclosure in sted. They also adjusted the speakers so they can be louder and more efficient in bass reproduction as well as lowering the distortion level.

On the right you can see an image of the newest edition added to the iMac serie. This model works by Intel core quad i5 proccessor at 2,8 Ghz.It has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth incorporated technologies and integrated speakers as well.Users of this version benefit of 2 units of DDR3 2GB RAM each,so a total of 4GB RAM.As for storage memory, that wouldn't have to be a problem for anyone as the iMac comes with a HDD of 1TB- 1 Terabyte (1000 GB-1000 Gigabytes). It also includes various memory drives such as disk writer.

The iMac disk writer works at a total speed of 7200 RPM(rotations per minute). So far,you probably think the video chipset is awful because it would be to good to be true to have a powerful video card as well.Oh well, you better believe it because the iMac comes with ATI 5750-1 GB VRAM video card. The system also includes everything else a PC needs, such as USB,Jacks and others.

In conclusion, the iMac is a great piece of hardware, suitable for both documenting and gaming, but before you get all excited, you may want to check the price tag.
