How Many Songs Can A 4GB iPod Hold

posted in Apple, iPod, by BindApple

With over two hundred and forty millions copies sold worldwide, the Apple device called the iPod is clearly the most loved, appreciated and purchased portable music device ever. Ever since its appearance, in October 2001, iPod characteristics, aspects, colors and technological features have developed alot, shaping a device to best suit the needs of its target market, from teenagers to music addicts, family members, and even parents that want to have a clue about what the new generation is listening to. So, the iPod was released in no less than 8 different generations, all featuring different shapes, screens, colors, size and characteristics. Each one from iPod Shuffle to iPod Classic, Nano, Mini or Touch feature different storage characteristics, depending on the date it was released. So, it comes as no surprise that starting models or the future iPod shuffles which were the less expensive division have limited storage capacities of only 512 MB or up to 1 or 2 GB.

But since technologies evolve fast in all domains, engineers from Apple development found ways to increase iPod's storage capacities up to 64GB for the newest versions of iPod Touch. Still, the 64 GB version is only to be found in the latest released version of the Touch generation, in September 2009. Also, the third generation of iPod Touch was updated to include the upgraded internals from the iPhone 3GS among with the Voice Control support and bundled remote earphones.

Yet, iPods were not only made for listening to music purposes, but to create a multimedia environment and a device that can store everything from music files, music videos, data files and even movies having adequate size and format. Also, the iPod Touch includes a wireless connection to Internet making it a multimedia device that not only fullfiles the needs for music addicts, but it can come in hand in many occasions, depending on the case. Having said that, it is clearly that iPods are used more by the younger generations that were born among high technologies and that cannot conceive a school break or the distance from school to their house without their earphones on and their music out loud singing. And because iPods are also among the best gift youngsters can receive for their birthdays, I suggest parents go out for some serious shopping to make their offspring happy.

A 4GB model of iPod can store between 700 and 1000 songs that approximately mean no less than 2500 hours of pure relaxation of the ears. Maybe some of you might not find this version appealing to their now needs, but I assure you it is more music stored there than you can possible hear in a month, if songs are the main purpose you did purchase an iPod in the first place.
