eBay iPhone App, Updated

posted in software news, by Codrut Nistor

I don't know about you, but I love eBay, despite the fact I got a bunch of fake Gillette blades once. At least I know I wasn't the only one... but this is not about shaving accessories, as you probably imagined already. When bidding on eBay, sometimes you need to keep an eye on those items and their price, and since the iPhone is so widely used to browse the Internet, having an eBay iPhone app is nothing out of ordinary.
eBay iPhone App

I guess I mentioned the eBay iPhone apps at least once in the past, but now we're talking about a new version, and this is not just a minor update. No, sir! This time, we're into some serious stuff - a seriously overhauled interface, as well as support for messaging.

According to the official news, the eBay iPhone app has the following new features/improvements:

- Messaging
- Updated home screen appearance
- Added “Hot items” to the home screen, graphically summarizing recent, favorite, and popular searches
- New View item Action Toolbar for easier watching and bidding
- Improved item status display
- Added max distance and price range refinements to search
- Added eBay Motors as a top-level category (United States only)

Some may claim the current exchange rates are not making eBay as attractive as one year ago, but they are not quite right. To be honest, I've seen a bunch of very interesting price cuts in the last few months, and I swear I wasn't paid by eBay to write this!

These being said, I hope all you eBayers who missed this free app so far will give it a chance now. As far as I am concerned, this is one of the most useful iPhone apps I've seen so far, and that's enough for me.
