Taken as a standard of where technology has gotten us to, the iPhone is probably the world's must known smartphone and ever since its first release in 2007, has broken many hearts and has led to an incredible amount of copies, replicas or similar devices sold worldwide. Some of the latest smartphones released were inspired by the Apple's iPhone design and features, and by studying its technology, big companies came up with similar models to the Mac tool.

A very popular comparison between phones has made between the LG Dare, Samsung Instinct and the iPhone products, all consisting in similar designs and features.
On July 3rd 2008 the newest LG model, the LG Dare hitted the market worldwide and was in retail for a price of about $250 US, which is, by far, less than the Apple device which costed up to 600 USD. The Dare is smaller than the iPhone (and is missing the iPhone’s built in storage), but it does have some features that the iPhone itself lacks. For example, it has a 3.2-megapixel camera with flash. The main selling feature of this phone is the high-quality video recording; this records 640-by-480 video at up to 120 frames per second. It also features a "full HTML browser" and works with the 3G technology. None of that, however, changes the fact that if you purchase a LG Dare you’ll be walking around with a phone that looks like a knock-off of Apple's iPhone.

Also, the LG Dare is a re-worked LG Prada which is a touch screen phone that came out right before the iPhone did. If one takes a quick view over the Prada, you can easily see that its design is quite different from the Dare model, and to start with, it has unique icons that do not look like they were copy/pasted from the Mac OS X. I think they should have limited themselves to the Prada version which is much more simple, cute and doesn't look like an uglier twin of the iPhone.
Your choice over a phone, however, will entirely depend on what you are looking for from a smartphone device. If we refer to the quality (as in features)- price standard, purchasing the Dare would be the best option, also due to its 3.2 megapixel camera and 120fps video recording. Still, if it's about everything else, the iPhone 3G and the latest 3G S remain the most viable options on the market so far.
