If you have troubles with your iPod maybe this article would help you to find a solution for your problem. If your iPod doesn’t work or doesn’t respond and you have tried to turn it on but nothing happens it means that is frozen. Before you panic, you should check the Hold switch, maybe when you put in your pocket or somewhere else, the button switched in the hold position and this is why your iPod doesn’t respond to your commands.

Your iPod won’t work, also if it has no battery left. To see if the battery is the problem, you should plug in your iPod, wait for a few seconds and then try to turn it on. If your iPod worked, then the problem was the battery, but if it didn’t worked you can try to reset it.

You can reset your iPod in two ways; the first way works with all iPod nano generations, iPod classic and iPod mini and the second way works with iPod scroll wheel, iPod, iPod touch wheel. The first way is to press and hold the following two buttons: the Menu button and the Center button. You need to press and hold them in the same time until you see the Apple logo on your iPod’s screen. The second way is to press the hold the following two buttons: the Play/Pause button and the Menu button.

When you reset your iPod all the data on the device is saved, but you can lose a few customized settings. The date and time is also saved when you reset it, but if the iPod resets itself because it doesn’t have no more battery left, then you will lose the date and the time.

If you want to listen to the latest songs from iTunes and you downloaded the latest version of iTunes, but you can copy the songs to your iPod this could mean that your device needs a later version of its software. So, you need to update the software of your iPod.

If you see on your iPod screen a folder with an exclamation point, this could mean that your iPod needs a later or a specific version of its software. If you see a sad iPod icon and your device is not recognized in Finer (if you have a Mac) or in My Computer (if you have a PC) and it isn’t recognized in iTunes either. This sad iPod icon means that your iPod has a hardware problem and if you can’t force iPod into Disk Mode means that you should take the device to a service.

If you can force iPod into Disk Mode (for this you have to press and hold the Select and the Menu buttons until you see the Apple logo on the screen and when you see it, release the buttons indicated above and press the Select and the Play/Pause buttons in the same and hold them until you see the Disk Mode screen appearing). Then you have to connect the device to your computer and try to restore your device. Restoring means that all the data, the songs, the movies, the contacts and all the music will be lost.
