That is why it's a nightmare when my mouse does not work. I am sure most of you think this way , too. Just imagine for a few moments that your iMac mouse won't right click no matter what you do. And imagine that you have a lot of paperwork and lots of reports to finish by the end of the day. And all the commands for your iMac seem to need the right click. So what do you do then?
First of all remember that the mouse right click actually means to open the menu bar, right? Well, until you find an answer to your problem and fix it, keep in mind that there are also other ways of doing this, without using a mouse: you can either press "shift" and "F10" at the same time (I tried this combo of keys myself and it works perfectly) or press the special Menu button. I honestly tell you I had no idea I had this key on my keyboard until today - it's the key placed between the control key and the alt key.

The next step is to identify what kind of problem causes your mouse the fact that it can't perform the command it is supposed to. So, if your iMac mouse won't right-click try to find if it's a software or a hardware malfunction. So turn off the computer and unplug the mouse, then replace it with another mouse that you know for sure it's perfectly functional. Turn on the computer and see if this one works. If yes, it's a problem with your first mouse. So you will have to check it to see if there is something wrong with it. Do not try to open it, as you will only damage it.
These are no longer ball mice that gather all the dust and debris on your desk. Just turn it over and place it on a clean piece of cloth and try to press the scroll wheel down and roll it slowly and you might see some dirt coming out. This happens and after two minutes your mouse will work perfectly again. If you can't do it and it still won't work, take it to a specialist.

Then, if it's a software problem there might be something wrong with the drivers. Unintall them and then install them again, update them and then try again. It should work. Finally, if nothing solves the problem, reinstall the operating system. Good luck with solving the problem.
