Now that the current iPod line is near the end of its life, buying iPod accessories could be considered risky by some people who are more paranoid than the average. Why? Well, "What if they change the dock to one incompatible with the previous ones?," that is the question. Anyway, I don't think this is going to happen, and even if it does, there are still plenty of iPod users out there who won't suddenly throw away all their beloved (and pretty expensive, in some cases) gadgets just to make room for the latest models. These being said, I think a new black beauty from Bose would come in handy for all iPod users, so here it is!

What just happened is the introduction of the second generation Bose SoundDock, a digital music system that is the first "Works with iPhone-"certified product coming from Bose.
The Bose SoundDock Series II only looks a bit different to the previous generation, but it comes with a few new features, the most important being its ability to support both the iPhone 3G and the old iPhone without requiring to use the Airplane Mode while docked. Even more, a new auxiliary input allows that other MP3 and CD players to be connected, as well as various music phones.
Obviously, the iPods and iPhones are being charged while connected to the SoundDock, while the infrared remote allows easy navigation of the devices' content.
Expected to become available in early September, the Bose SoundDock Series II will only come in black, for a price of $299, while the original SoundDock will keep its $229 price tag, and if you want a white iPod dock, you should get that one...or paint your Series II in white!
