Apple Lawsuit 3G
When was the last time we talked about a lawsuit involving Apple? Oh, yeah, the "clone wars," over and over again. Last time, Apple had to face a nicely returned ball from Psystar, who filed a countersuit. After all, the US is a free country(more or less), where everyone can sue everyone. If there's no logical reason for such a thing, a reason can be found, sooner or later. Now, we're talking about Apple, lawsuit, 3G. Enough dots to unite and get a nicely shaped image? Here's another hint: iPhone 3G problems!

What kind of problems? It seems some people get lucky, while others don't, because if this wouldn't be the truth, I am sure Apple and AT&T would have thousands of lawsuits filed against them. Anyway, there's no need for thousands of lawsuits to erode your reputation, and while Apple is still a highly valued company by shareholders and customers alike, this second lawsuit filed over the network performance of the iPhone 3G doesn't fit into the landscape well. It doesn't fit at all, you can bet on that!
Today's story goes like this - William Gillis sued both Apple and its unique carrier in the US, AT&T, complaining they have recklessly oversold the iPhone 3G, fully aware of the fact that the device and the AT&T 3G network simply can't handle fast access for the current amount of users. Just like others also complained in the past few weeks, speeds are way below the advertised levels, and the worse part of it all is that people find themselves forced to use EDGE in areas where full 3G support should be available.
While the suit seeks restitution and punitive damages, the most important claim is that Gillis considers Apple should warn shoppers on the phone's package that network performance could fall below par. Even worse, he's looking to make this a class action case, so if he wins, all those affected by similar issues could earn compensation.
I can't say I am with him or against him, all I want is to see iPhone 3G problems coming to an end, and everyone being happy, but I guess I am asking too much, at least for now...
