Apple iPhone Verizon

posted in Apple, by adimoga

A big part of the Apple iPhone universe is represented by the carrier.  Apple started by closing a deal with AT&T, which meant that  AT&T had exclusivity over North America in terms of carrier for the  iPhone. However, both Apple and AT&T received a huge amount of  complains from iPhone and AT&T users, as iPhone users would have  all kinds of problems, like lack of signal even tough they were located  in well populated areas, all kinds of errors, and week productivity from  the carrier during certain hours.

In the end, the Apple-AT&T  partnership turned out to be one big failure. As of 2010, Apple closed a  deal with the world's biggest 4G network, T-Mobile. It is believed that  Apple decided to work with T-Mobile and not Verizon, because they were  more advantaged by closing a quick deal with a very big and productive  carrier, rather than engaging into rough negotiations with a carrier  that made fun of the iPhone in their Droid commercials, and was not even  sure to succeed. As of the 2010 released iPhone 4, T-Mobile has been used  as a carrier.

However, after several years in which people have discussed the possibility of Apple and Verizon working together, it seems that their wishes will come true early next  year. This represents a major step, not only for Apple and Verizon, but  for AT&T as well, because after the Apple-Verizon deal will be  closed, their exclusivity rights over Apple's mobile phone will vanish.  Over the years, the rumors about this partnership have grown and gained  momentum, but although they come from different sources, they all are  very similar in detail. However, Wall Street Journal, which is a common  outlet for Apple rumors(which come directly from Apple) said that Apple  would start the mass production of a CDMA phone early this year.  Although some thought that China was the destination for this phone, Wall  Street Journal declared that Verizon was the target.

The statement is  supposed to be made by an Apple briefed person. More recently, a Fortune  profile on Verizon's CEO, Ivan Seidenberg came additional information.  Several direct quotes between Seidenberg and Apple CEO Steve Jobs  regarding the two companies working together were presented. An  important sign is the fact that AT&T raised its early-termination  fees up to $325, most probably because they believe people will leave  their insecure network in certain areas for Verizon.

Another new article  said that Verizon would be selling the Apple iPad bundled with a 3G  hot spot. Opposing this story, other news earlier this year suggested the  existence of certain business and contractual details that were holding  the two companies from working together. Bot the people that are happy  about this partnership and the ones that are not will have to wait until  next year to see what becomes of the Apple iPhone and its carrier.
