The second function refers to the multimedia management ability of the device,as it can be used fore storing and using multimedia files, such as playing videos and songs, but you can also use it to see your favorite photos. The iPhone can also be used as an internet and browser-based device,as it is equipped by Apple with modern Wi-Fi internet connection technology. The iPhone can be used to execute different applications(commonly referred to as iPhone Apps,Apple iPhone Apps,or just Apps).

These applications have to be approved by Apple itself and can only be obtained by visiting the Apple official webstore. The applications integrate in a huge variety of domains, like games,social-networking,GPS utilities, and many others,as everybody can find at last one app that can help him from the over 20.000 list of applications that the webstore currently has registered.
The iPhone is currently built in four different models,as the iPhone family holds four generations. Each model of the innovative iPhone has some features that the previous lacks, like the ability to make 3G video calls in the case of the second installment of the device, named iPhone 3G due to this particular new feature.
The other iPhone models are the iPhone 3GS,the iPhone 4,and of course, the first iPhone. The iPhone requires a proper carrier to be registered to the device,in order for the user to have acces to the multimedia and internet features as well. This obstacle was soon crossed as in July 3,2007,a man called Jon Lech Johnson succeeded in bypassing this requirement with the help of some software programs and some editing he did in the iTunes binary. He later posted the needed details and software on to his personal blog so anyone can unlock their iPhone.
The second model of the iPhone, the iPhone 3G we spoke of earlier, was a bit harder to unlock due to the new in-store policy that was instored. This meant every iPhone had to be activated right in the store. The iPhone also had a SIM Lock that it was sold with, that restricted the access to the device to one particular carrier that would be designated when in-store registering the phone. This made unlocking it even tougher. The phones were originally registered to AT&T for North America.

However, certain hackers succeeded in registering the phone from different networks,as statistics show that only a quarter of the sold iPhones were registered to the rightful owner of that right,AT&T.Apple speculates that the phones were shipped over the sea and unlocked there. So,although Apple implemented the in-store method, hackers still found a way to fraud the company.Different countries have different policies as not every country has relations with AT&T.AT&T started to sell iPhones without contract for that matter, but at a double price due to the differed income both AT&T and Apple would be losing.
