Apple iPhone Price

posted in Apple, iPhone, by BindApple

Since its first appearance in 2007, the iPhone was sold in millions of copies worldwide. And because a technological device can always be upgraded and made better, the Apple Company released two more versions of the iPhones, the iPhone 3G in July 2008, followed by the newest 3G S in June 19 2010. As of quorter one of 2010, official figures show that about 50 million units were sold across the Globe, making it the single most known, used and bought mobile phone of all times.

The Operating system is symilar to other Mac devices, such as the Macbooks or the iMacs, as it runs on Apple technology. Also, the latest OS released on February 2, 2010 is the new iPhone OOS 3.1.23. But the improvements of newer iPhones were not only made upon the Operational System; the first version included the models with 4, 8 and 16 GB storage capacity, while the 3G S device was released only for the 16 and 32 GB versions. Furthermore, the newest 3G S includes also a more advanced camera, that went from the original 2.0 Megapixels to the 3.2 Megapixels in the present.

Approximately 6.4 million iPhones are active in the U.S. alone, making Apple the best mobile phone retailer in the whole America, just near other multimedia moguls such as Nokia, Samsung or Sony Ericsson.

Even so, just like every new product, the releasing price was higher than the average man could afford on spending on one single electronic device. However, this wasn't at all allarming for most of the customers, so that huge lines were formed in front of Apple stores soon before the device was released; similar events happened not only within the American territory, but in many other countries like Japan, France, UK or Korea. Having said that, it is clearly that the iPhone benefited from a large promotion campaign announcing the best smartphone available on the market at that point.

But what about the prices? The original versions were between 599 and 499 USD each, within the first months since its releasing. Still, starting with  the latest months of 2007, Apple decided to lower the barrier of entry to a much more appealing $399 for the 8GB model which had a whooping original price of $599. But what about people that bought the products at their full price? No worries, Steve Jobs, Apple CEO has thought of those too. In an official letter posted on the Apple official site, he stated that customers that have purchased the iPhone for its original price, will receive a $200 rebate in the form of a check. Also, a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store will be offered for those of who did not receive the rebate nor any other considerations.

Under these circumstances, one is entitled to dream that there will come a time when high technology will be available and affordable for most of the pockets.
