The iPhone of 2010, simply called iPhone 4 (due to the fact that it is the fourth generation device) is the best iPhone yet to be released, as its features range from Voice Control and Multitasking, to high resolution, video recording enabled cameras and the Retina display. However, contrary to what you may believe, the iPhone can't be declared king of phones just yet, because there are some other interesting mobile phones that are worthy of examination as well. We will compare the already known iPhone 4 to three contenders: Google Nexus One,HTC Desire and Samsung Galaxy S.

Google Nexus One
Google Nexus One, codenamed HTC Passion, is Google's flagship smartphone. The phone has been manufactured by the HTC Corporation in Taiwan and released to the public on January 5, 2010. Nexus One, the same as all smartphones, shows some interesting capabilities, like transcribing voice into text (meaning that the device is able to recognize voice commands similar to the Voice Control function on the iPhone), turn-by-turn voice guided direction through the phone's GPS system for drivers, or dual microphones that are able to cancel the surrounding noise. The device carries a 3.7 inch AMOLED display, which uses the PenTile Matrix pixel technology. It has a resolution of 480x800 pixels, and every pixel has only two subpixels, grouped in two kinds of colors, blue and green or red and green, unlike most phones which use three combinations, and therefore has a 392x653 RGB display.

Samsung Galaxy S
Samsung Galaxy S is an Android operating system based smartphone which uses an 1 Ghz "Hummingbird" processor, and an internal flash memory of either 8 GB or 16 GB (smaller than the maximum storage capacity of the iPhone 4, which is 32 GB, but even so, quite pleasing). The smartphone's input is based on its 4 inch super AMOLED (with PenTile technology) capacitive multi-touch screen, which operates at a maximum resolution of 480x800 pixels. The original model came with just the back 5 megapixel camera, but more select models of the phone, which appeared at very short time after the first also include a VGA front facing camera which is optimal for video calling (which is similar to the iPhone's FaceTime function). Due to its PowerVR graphics processor, capable of 90 million triangles per second, which made it the fastest smartphone available, Samsung Galaxy S was the first Android phone to be certified for DivX HD.

HTS Desire
Like Google Nexus One, HTC Desire is also produced by the HTC Corporation (which isn't that hard to figure out, due to its name). The device features an 1 Ghz ARMv7 "Snapdragon" processor and a 5 megapixel camera, capable of auto focus. The HTC Desire was among the first consumer intended devices to feature a large full-colored AMOLED display. During late Q2 2010, HTC decided to let go of the AMOLED screen and replace it with Sony's Super LCD panel, which although represented an unusual decision, turned out to be very well seen by most people, who had complaints about the original screen. The Sony super LCD scren panel made reading on the phone much easier.
