Apple iPhone and Verizon

posted in iPhone, by BindApple

Analysts declare the changes made by Verizon to be obvious,  saying that the reason for which the carrier made all of them is that  the company always suffers financially when they give a discounted  phone. As of now, carriers lose money when hey give discounted handsets,  but come back from the two-year contract.

That is the motive for which a  new 16 GB iPhone 4 costs only $199 instead of the retail price of $599  if you close a two-year contract deal with Verizon. Analysts say that  the more you can get people to go between changing phones, the more  profit comes up for the carrier, as the whole thing is based on making  people wait longer for the discounted phones, or make them pay more for  them. That is a true fact for all other carrier networks, as every  network has its own discounts and early upgrades, and while every  network is working on their on 4G network, is is likely that they will  get more stingy as well when it comes to discounts, once they accumulate  enough smartphone subscribers. Not only do discounts seem to disappear,  but they do it while new extra fees and extra money for early exiting a  contract are required. For example, the people over at Sprint decided to  ask for $10 monthly surcharge for 4G capable handsets.

Handsets also  doubled their early termination fees, which now rises up to $365 for  smartphones. Carries find this way effective for getting their money  back for handsets and contracts. Verizon is well positioned to be the  first carrier to adjust its discount program, due to its status of being  one of the best, if not the best out there, when it comes to mobile  phone carriers. Verizon succeeded in creating a name for itself, building  a brand and not a single device. Both mobile phone carrier and analysts  expect customers to accept these kind of changes without too much of a  fight, not as if they have other options, anyway. Customers have already  proven their rabid and hunger for the newest and more sophisticated devices out there, as it is obvious by now.

This represented and will  always represent a major plus for mobile phone carriers which are and  will be able o make customers pay much more to see certain devices into  their hands. For example, shortly after the new Apple iPhone 4 was  announced back in 2010, gadget trade-in site Gazelle.com increased in  people that visited seeking buyers for the new phone from Apple by  5,900% which proves those mentioned above. So if customers are that  eager to get their hands on a new iPhone, Verizon really has the upper  hand against rival carriers such as Sprint or AT&T this year, due to  the appearance of the new iPhone.
