If the first iPhone was something different for everybody, the new Apple iPhone 3G 16GB unlocked brings something new and Apple promises there will be even more iPhones to come. Not only its design was improved, but also some of the basic features such as call quality performance. Of course, the price has also been improved, and you will have to pay to get this new version and only if you decide to get it with service you might have a shot at getting it cheaper.
And if we have mentioned the changes regarding its design, when you look at the phone from its front, you might not see the changes from the start. In order to figure it out, turn the phone on the side and you will surely notice the replacement of the aluminum silver black with the plastic black or white face. With either model you will face a fingerprint and smudge attraction, so you could consider getting some new iPhone 3G cases.
If you also look at the phone from its left and right sides, you can see it is slightly curved, it makes it thinner to the edges, but slight thicker in the center than the previous iPhone. It might look very attractive, but you will get annoyed once you place it on a table or any surface and you will notice it doesn’t stay still. The display on the other hand measures 3.5” and has a pixel resolution of 480x320, nothing new at this chapter, same brilliant colors, vivid images and sharp graphics. The layout is still the same on the home screen, but with two more widgets (Contact icon and an App Store icon).
Below the display is the Home button and the volume rocker along with the ringer mute switch are on the left side. On top of the phone is the Power button, all being now silver and more noticeable than before, when they were all black. On the bottom of the iPhone 3G you will find the microphone, speaker and the charger port. The battery is still not replaceable, even though there are some screws on either side. The 3.5mm headset jack is flush with the surface and you are able to switch your favorite headphone now, not being restricted like on the previous model.
As for the new features, it includes a free 2.0 software update and the bunch of organizational tools including also the Microsoft Exchange server full version. Adding a new account is done easy and fast, just go through the Settings menu and add an e-mail system. You can divide your business accounts and personal accounts with the multiple POP3 accounts. If you want to use Wi-Fi, messages will appear quickly, just make sure you check them all, because once there are too many it will be a bit harder.
You can also go through App Store and choose various widgets and applications to personalize you phone (web browser and more) and even for 3G GPS.
