Apple iPad

As you all probably already know, the newest Apple tablet released on the market is called the iPad. Yes, we know, not a very inspired name, still, it had a huge success ever since its launching at the beginning of April. But what is this iPad? Steve Jobs, the creator of another successful product trade-mark Apple, claims that this is actually a revolutionary device that will totally change your optic views towards what Internet means. The tablet is suppose to change the whole concept of computing as we know it, creating a gate to newer, future technologies, more performant in every way.

It is said to create a new vision of computing, the best way to experience the web, email, photos and videos. The official Apple site also claims that "All of the built-in apps on iPad were designed from the ground up to take advantage of the large Multi-Touch screen and advanced capabilities of iPad. And they work in any orientation. So you can do things with these apps that you can’t do on any other device." All in all, in terms of the description, it does seem like a promising tablet.

The newest iPad features a wide full touchscreen, a battery that will last up to 10 hours of intense use, glamorous and glossy finishing, curved edges and a super-light and slim design that will give joy to the eyes of the critic. Not to mention it only weights around 600 grams, so it is actually the best product to have a life-time experience surfing the Internet or doing any other simple tasks that a notebook does too. Actually, it was designed that way to become the best merge between a smartphone and a notebook, to best fit the users' needs and demands for a portable, wide screened product.

The iPad comes in two available versions, the wi-fi simple, classic version with prices between $499 and $699, and the latest released on the market, the wi-fi plus 3G version with costs that vary from $629 to $829. Still, rumors that prices will drop down seriously haven't yet been confirmed, speculators supposing that, like in the most of all other gadgets released by Apple, prices will be up to 50% smaller after a month or two. The newest tablet is to actually slay eBooks and notebooks, as it performs the main functions of these devices; so, it can be best used to surf the Internet, watch high quality movies and videos or even become a handy e-reader. And while people have become so used with technology, it comes as no surprise that the newest gizmo released by the Apple had a remarkable success and people across the Globe accepted it with their hands and pockets wide open. All hail Steve Jobs. All hail Apple.

Apple iPad Second Gen

We all heard about the iPads, the newest tablet released by the Apple Company. Many of you already bought one ever since it first came out, or, even better (or worse!?), you were already on the waiting lists for months before the official launching. Sure, Apple knows about marketing and knows how to do good marketing in order to convince their buyers that this product is, in deed, revolutionary.

And in some aspects, Mr Steve Jobs, we agree with you. Your product is revolutionary, but far from ideal for now. The iPad seems to have a lot of limitations that were either conditioned by technology or implemented with a clear intention to address them in the second generation. Marketing, as we said before. Still, with no less than 300,000 copies sold in the first day of the official launching, in US only, it is far to say that many people won't buy a product just because they wait for the second, better version to come out. In the end, every time is the same: if you wait for too long for something better to come up, you might as well, in the end get nothing, as everything new and better will always show up, especially in terms of technology and gadgets.

But the Apple iPad tablet is no ordinary item. With its revolutionary concept, the iPad is the best merge between a notebook and a smartphone, not to mention it uses almost the same technology as the iPhones, so for previous users, the new gadget won't be hard learn with. With its glossy finishing, the glamorous design, the full touch screen technology and the lightness of it, no wonder many have seen in the latest iPad a new dimension towards multimedia products. Not to mention the battery that will allow you up to 10 hours of multimedia experiences, everywhere you might be. Still, if you want an iPad and not already purchased one, you might consider the second generation to come up, as the actual one lacks many things. First of all, the first generation doesn't even have a camera. So, if you are planning video conferences anytime soon, don't rely on this model of iPad.

Secondly, is the absence of the Adobe Flash support. Like the iPhones, one might still enjoy watching videos from Youtube on this gadget, but it is impossible to play flash games or surf on websites that use Flash in the menus. Not to mention that many Facebook applications (as in games, and I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about) run on Flash so iPad seems rather useless in these circumstances. Last but not least is the really annoying absence of multitasking, which means that you are unable to leave a window open, of any kind, and go check quickly another website. Still, we consider this only a marketing method that will keep potential buyers in the plan for the second generation of the iPad.

Apple MacBook And Dvd Player

The combination of Apple Mac Book and DVD player is quite a difficult task of you consider that the Apple Mac Book Air does not come with any included optical drive. The optical drive, as well as a lot of ports which should be commonly found on a laptop, are lacking here because Apple had to make some sacrifices in order to manufacture the thinnest laptop in the world. And to think that it has lost its title in favor of the new Dell Adamo… what a shame. Anyway, the Air Apple Mac Book and DVD player combo is only possible if you decide to buy an external optical drive and attach it to the main body of the system.

Let us take a look though the other specs of the Apple Mac Book Air and see if the sacrifice was worth it. This laptop is based on a 1.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P7500 processor and 2 GB of RAM. the total storage capacity of the hard drive is 80 GB while the graphics card is the integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100. On a personal level, I must admit that I was never a fan of Apple laptops. There are a lot of other cool laptops on the market that have the same 13.3 inch display and come with many more features than you get from the Apple MacBook Air. I never cared really much about this whole “thinnest laptop in the world” idea ok, I have to admit, this laptop looks good and it is going to make you look good as well while you are using it. The dimensions of this laptop are 12.8 x 8.94 x 0.16 – 0.76 inches and the total weight of the system is 3 pounds. The operating system give you the possibility to choose between the Windows Vista Ultimate and the Mac OS X v10.5.1 Leopard.

The ports and features chapter is the one that interest us the most in this article. Unfortunately, like I mentioned in the begging, there is not much to speak about here because Apple decided to skip some port which, in our opinion, are a must-have even on 13 inch laptop. Due to the thinness of the laptop, it is obvious that there is not included optical drive. The unit comes with only one USB port which you can use to attach an external DVD player. There is also one DVI out and one headphones jack.

Can you imagine? We are dealing with a laptop that has no Express Card slot; no digital media card reader, no microphone port, not to mention the lack of an Ethernet port. This means that the only way for you to use the internet is via a wireless connection. It’s sad, but true. We would have settled for a docking station connector, but we don’t have any of those either. Battery life resulted in 4 hours and 20 minutes of laptop use with the Display brightness set to 40% and the wireless card activated.

Apple MacBook Pro

It was believed that the Apple MacBook Pro was one of the best laptops in the world at the time of its launching. Even if this is true or not, one thing is for sure: there was a huge number of people that wanted to get their hands on the Apple MacBook Pro. But what is it that makes this laptop so special. Is it the design? Maybe it is the chiclet style keyboard (which, by the way, is NOT an Apple invention as Sony was the first manufacturer to implement this type of keyboard on its VAIO laptops). Let us see what the 13 inch Apple MacBook Pro is capable of and later take a decision whether this laptop is worth the money or not.

The price of the unit reviewed here was $1200 back in 2009 but I guess that you can purchase it for a lower price right now. All you have to do is to check the Apple official website and see which the latest offers are or you can also look into different online and offline stores for promotion. The 13 inch Apple MacBook Pro is based on a 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 processor and 2 GB of DDR3 RAM. The graphics card is the nVidia GeForce 9400M with 256 MB of shared video memory. The total storage capacity of the hard drive is 160 GB. The dimensions of the unit are 12. 78 x 8.94 x 0.95 inches and it weighs a total of 4.51 pounds. As you can see, it is not as thin and light as the Apple MacBook Air.

This laptop comes with a 13.1 inch glossy display which shows rich and beautiful colors but it can also be a bit troubling when it comes to reading what is on the screen in a powerfully lit environment. The native resolution of this display is 1280 x 800 pixels. The unit generally comes with the Mac OS X v10.5.7 preinstalled. If there is one thing that people have always found appealing about an Apple laptop it is definitely the keyboard. Even of the laptop measures only 13.3 inches in diagonal, the keys are fully sized and they features a backlight which can make typing in the dark a whole lot easier. The keys have great travel and they offer positive feedback each time you type. I always found the touchpad of the 13 inch Apple MacBook Pro to be large and a little odd since the left and right touchpad buttons are not separated.

Even so, the touchpad has a surface which is very pleasant to the touch and it shows no signs of significant lag. As for the selection of ports and features, the unit is host to 2 USB ports, one Ethernet port, a FireWire port, an SD card slot, a mini Display Port and the headphones jack. I think that Apple has never really been to keen on supplying a good selection of ports on its laptop models. Battery life is surely a strong point of this laptop as it manages to keep the unit on for 8 hours with the display brightness adjusted to 70% and the wireless card activated.
