Safari 4 Download, Now Public!

Before I started using Safari for Windows, I tried to stay away from the Beta versions just like a mouse avoids cats. When I decided that version 3.0 looks solid enough, after reading a bunch of reviews, I started using it, and we've been living happily ever since. No, it's not my primary browser, but it's always a pleasure to use it, and now I hardly wait to get the Safari 4 download for good...because for now, it's all about the Safari 4 Beta.
Safari 4 Download

Using the next-gen Nitro engine, Safari 4 Beta should be running JavaScript over 4 times as fast as Safari 3, and up to 30 times faster than IE 7, or three times as fast as Firefox. Well, at least that's what Apple says, and if the above is not enough, you should also know that the Nitro-powered Safari 4 loads HTML pages three times faster than IE 7!

To grab the Safari 4 download, simply go to the official Safari page and click the Free Download button. Why would you do it? That's a good question, and the answer goes right here:

"Thanks to Top Sites, you can enjoy a stunning, at-a-glance preview of your favorite websites without lifting a finger. Safari 4 Beta tracks the sites you browse and ranks your favorites, presenting up to 24 thumbnails on a single page. You can even customize the display by pinning a favorite site to a specific location in the grid. That locks it into position, so you know just where to find it every time you open Top Sites.

Wonder which sites have changed since your last visit? Sites with a star in the upper-right corner have new content. A single click opens the page and updates its thumbnail. Whenever you want to return to your ever-evolving Top Sites page, just click the new Top Sites button in the bookmarks bar."

Add Cover Flow to that one, and you get an amazing Web browsing experience. Since Safari 4 Beta is available for both Windows and Mac OS X, your only excuse for not downloading it is the "Beta fright," so if you don't have it, give this beauty a try, it won't disappoint you!

App Store – Read Reviews, Don’t Write!

I know people who buy various things without even bothering to check some reviews first, and they start complaining. The sad part is that most of these people happen to be my friends, and no matter what I do, they usually ask for my help after doing the evil deed. If they could only spare a few minutes to read reviews, as I do - but that's life - you can't be perfect, and if you don't even want to change, well... that's life, as I was saying...
App Store read reviews

When talking about Apple's App Store, to read reviews is also a must, but if you get some program, or simply play with it on a friend's iPhone, writing reviews is also something you should do. Unfortunately, Apple decided to disallow feedback from non-customers, but that happened after thousands of such comments got published.

That was happening last September, but now everything is clean - if you're simply a visitor of the App Store, read reviews, but don't write until you become a customer, that's the catch. A few days ago, Apple finished taking out all non-customer reviews, but if this was a smart thing to do or not...that remains to be seen.

Let's not forget about those who got their iPhone with apps already installed, or those who still play with their friends iPhones, trying to figure out if their money will be wisely spent on such a phone or not. What about them, Apple?

iPhone News – Mobile Web Domination

posted in gadgets, by Codrut Nistor

Hungry for some iPhone news? I don't know about you, since most of my friends are hunting for economy- and business-related news instead of technology news, but this whole crisis madness is still a few steps behind me, so I'll focus on the same things as always. Now, the time has come to take another look at the mobile Web usage and Apple's iPhone position in that market...
iPhone News Mobile Domination

As usual, things are pretty clear - according to Net Applications' February report, the iPhone is a real killer. Come on, more than 8 times the percentage of the next platform? This is in-sane, I tell you - I-N-S-A-N-E!!!

If you don't like to stare at numbers written using small fonts(I hate this!), here's the info from the graph above - the iPhone has no less than 66.61% of the total mobile browsing market, followed by Java ME, with 9.06%. All the others have less than 7%, with Windows Mobile, Android and Symbian grabbing over 6%, and Palm, BlackBerry and BREW crawling in the back, with slices of the big pie of 0.51% to 2.37%.

To me, the most amazing part of this report is the fact that Google's Android managed to climb right behind Windows Mobile, while seeing Apple's iPhone right on top of it all wasn't quite a surprise, but that impressive percentage managed to surprise me.

These being said, I hardly wait to see next report, because I think Android could surpass Windows Mobile by the summer's end. Well, at least that's what I think, but if you know better, don't be shy and drop a comment below!

Apple iMac Specifications

If I look at the Apple iMac specifications, and then at my current Windows desktop PC, I suddenly become jealous. Really! My only problem is the price, because otherwise I would instantly get a brand new black iMac, but since it's a crisis...let's take a look at those Apple iMac specifications you were looking for, shall we?
Apple iMacs specifications

When it comes to descriptions, Apple has become notorious for its laconic ones, especially those pointing out changes in software updates. Fortunately, it's different when talking about Apple iMac specifications, as you can see below...

"The more powerful iMac. Now running at speeds up to 3.06GHz.

Just when you thought iMac had everything, now there’s even more. More powerful Intel Core 2 Duo processors. And more memory standard. Combine this with Mac OS X Leopard and iLife ’09, and it’s more all-in-one than ever. iMac packs amazing performance into a stunningly slim space."

Currently, we have three models available, each with a bunch of customizable options, and here they are:

- 20-inch 2.4GHz iMac, 250GB/320GB/500GB SATA drive, 1GB/2GB/4GB of DDR2 memory
- 20-inch 2.66GHz iMac, 320GB/500GB/750GB SATA drive, 2GB/4GB of DDR2 memory
- 24-inch 2.8GHz iMac, 320GB/500GB/750GB/1TB SATA drive, 2GB/4GB of DDR2 memory

All these flavors come with FireWire ports, 802.11n wireless technology, iSight camera, SuperDrive, as well as ATI Radeon HD graphics, and a NVIDIA GeForce 8800GS upgrade option for the 24-inch setup. Not quite up to date, but still pretty impressive, don't you think?

Oh, yeah, I was very close to missing this one - the 20-inch models have a screen resolution of 1680X1050 pixels, while the "big brother," the 24-inch iMac, comes with an impressive 1920X1200 screen resolution. Awesome!

I hope all the above will quench your thirst for Apple iMac specifications, but if you still need to know more, don't hesitate to drop a comment below or contact us. Happy shopping! ;)
