Have A Merry Christmas!

With the good, the bad, and the ugly, this year was a good one for Apple. Hopefully, it was also a good year for most of its users, and that's what I would like to see happening until next Christmas, too.

Now, I won't tell you anything about the iPhone problems, iPod cases, MacBooks or any other Apple-related thing. Since we're less than a day away from Christmas, all that remains to be said is...

...Have A Merry Christmas, with a lot of apples, some turkey, and a bunch of other goodies but, most important of all, together with your best friends and family!

Get Ready For The iPhone Nano!

iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPhone Nano, three of a kind! Noticed the one that shouldn't be there? I guess you did, but soon, the iPhone Nano may turn into reality, at least according to one of the latest hot Apple-related rumors...

The story is very simple - some iPhone and iPod case manufacturer allowed for a new category, namely "iPhone Nano," to appear on its website. The best part of it is that, once you enter that category, you'll find yourself facing 17 silicone cases for the iPhone nano... or that's what should happen, since nothing loads here, anyway, but the imminence of a new product remains.

On the other hand, this could also be a big mistake from those at XSKN, but I don't think so. After all, a bunch of sources - and some of them are pretty reliable, claim that some people even managed to see the iPhone Nano. Nevertheless, most iPhone Nano pictures I found on the web seem to be fakes, or unconfirmed spy shots, so the big question remains: when will we get the iPhone Nano, if that's ever going to happen?

Psystar’s Revenge

Last time, it was about EFi-X USA and its - more or less - Mac clones, but now we're turning back to Psystar, and its crusade against Apple. I won't tell you all the details of the story once again, since it's enough to say that what started like a battle against a Mac clone maker ended up with a counterattack that Apple has to face, and now Psystar has made a controversial claim that the Cupertino-based company doesn't legally own the US rights to protect Mac OS X!

With this claim, Psystar hopes to invalidate a major component of the lawsuit filed by Apple, and if they are right... things could get a bit frustrating for Apple, to put it lightly. The Forida-based PC builder says that Apple's complaint has no real legal ground to hold, since they didn't use proper procedures to register the copyright for Mac OS X!

Obviously, without holding proper copyright to a product, you can't file any complaints to protect it, right? According to all these, the one and only Mac maker should be "prohibited from bringing action" against Psystar for DMCA violation claims and other copyright-related allegations.

Now, my opinion is that Psystar is either bluffing, or they have some very smart lawyers and Apple could really get in trouble, because if the clone maker's claims prove to be valid, then virtually any tiny computer store could start building its own Mac compatibles...

iPhone Live TV

posted in news, by Codrut Nistor

While I can't exactly say if I love or hate the iPhone, live TV on it is a very interesting alternative to music or ambient noise, and that's exactly what I am going to tell you about today...

The official press release goes like this(I won't give you the entire thing, since I am sure that reading long and boring press releases can't be anyone's hobby):

"equinux announced today the free iPhone app "Live TV", a program designed to watch live TV on your iPhone. "Live TV" shows all TV channels that the TV software, The Tube receives. "Live TV" gets live TV signals via Placeshift in the same wireless local area network (WLAN) as your Mac. The easily operable user interface allows users to choose all channels directly on their iPhone.

"Live TV" shows the current TV channels that The Tube provides in the same WLAN in an optimized resolution for your iPhone. As soon as your iPhone is registered with The Tube, you'll be able to watch all available channels on your iPhone with a simple click. And you can also change channels in "Live TV" just that easily.
"

To have some iPhone Live TV, you should install the app that receives TV feeds from equinux's Tube software, placeshifted from a user's Mac via a wireless network, so you can choose a channel from your handheld, launching an iPhone-optimized video feed.

While the app is free, if you hurry up, you can get a lower $100 price for the TubeStick hybrid tuner, which includes the necessary Tube software. More details can be found on the official TubeStick page. Enjoy your iPhone Live TV sessions! :)
