Dreaming about a Safari during your next week's trip to Africa? Well, as long as you're not going to kill any animals, it's fine for me. As long as you're not going to get killed by some animals, it should also be fine for you, but what about taking a long and adventurous journey...on the Web? You'll still be in a Safari, but this time coming from Apple, of course! What about it? A preview of version 4 has been sent to developers already!

First of all, a side note - since a lot of newcomers into the Apple world discover this amazing company with the iPhone, I think it would be really useful for them to check my Safari 3 for Windows review. OK, so I said that, and now we can get back to the early version of the next-gen Safari browser from Apple...

According to sources familiar with the subject, the current Safari 4.0 builds are 40A12, for Leopard, 40A8, for Tiger, and the Windows build is also labeled 40A12, like the one for Mac OS X Leopard. So...what's new?<-125x125 Button - right->

Well, it seems this new version is paving the way of a new "Develop" menu, a completely redesigned Web Inspector, as well as a JavaScript profiler and an integrated JavaScript debugger. Even more, the upcoming Safari 4 browser is expected to include many enhancements currently bundled into the latest WebKit version, with rich HTML 5 support, and revised Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) support, including masks, gradients, reflections, and specifying a named canvas.

These being said, I think it is also worth being mentioned that new Mac OS X 10.5.5 builds have been released, for both the desktop and server editions. In the end, we may see next month as a meeting point for a lot of major software and hardware updates from Apple. For now, nothing is official yet, as usual, but I can feel it getting closer...

Apple fans everywhere, here's an occasion for you to go out, get as much beer as you can handle, some pizza, hotdogs, Chinese food, or whatever you like, and start the party! Could you ever imagine living the day when Microsoft would say they are "not cool enough" for the Mac world? This took me by surprise, and although I talked about Microsoft Photosynth for a while one of these days, I missed the "not cool enough" part, because I wasn't using a Mac when I checked that website. Anyway, Microsoft Photosynth doesn't seem to be cool enough for Opera either, but I'll leave that aside now, so let's move on...

...and get back to the main topic - Microsoft is not cool enough for Mac! I know, it sounds like the claim of the average Apple fanboy, but it's not - you can see that in the screenshot above...<-125x125 Button - right->

Here's the excerpt, if you want to send it to your friends or use it as a status in your instant messaging program: "Unfortunately, we're not cool enough to run on your OS yet. We really wish we had a version of Photosynth that worked cross platform, but for now it only runs on Windows. Trust us, as soon as we have a Mac version ready, it will be up and available on our site."

Now, there's only one "problem" I can think of - what if the message above also appears for those running some Linux distribution? I have no idea, I didn't manage to try that yet, but if you know more than I do, be sure to drop a comment below. Thanks in advance!

I know a few people who wouldn't mind at all having a MacBook Air made of gold, like the one in the image below, but - unfortunately for them - the latest update to Apple's notebook doesn't cover it in gold... In fact, we're talking about a software update this time, since the long-awaited processor upgrade is not here just yet. Anyway, this is still a processor-related update, so it's not that far, after all, as we're going to see right away...

I don't know why was I expecting to see some detailed information from Apple regarding this update, because most of the times they update something, we don't get to find out much about what was really changed. This time, the MacBook Air Update, a 368KB download, is said to solve a problem reported by various users on Apple's support forums, as well as on other forums.
<-125x125 Button - right->
According to users' complaints, one of the two cores of the Core 2 Duo processors inside the MacBook Air would shut down when heat became an issue, slowing down the entire system, until the temperatures got back to normal.

An additional "bonus" of this last update is that some problems with video playback have been fixed too. Apple is also warning MacBook Air users to be careful with the utilities allowing them to adjust clock speed and voltage, since these third-party tools can cause problems, and they should be uninstalled before applying the update.

No matter if you faced any of the two issues above, Apple recommends this update for all MacBook Air owners, and the only requirement is Mac OS X 10.5.4 or later.

Now that the current iPod line is near the end of its life, buying iPod accessories could be considered risky by some people who are more paranoid than the average. Why? Well, "What if they change the dock to one incompatible with the previous ones?," that is the question. Anyway, I don't think this is going to happen, and even if it does, there are still plenty of iPod users out there who won't suddenly throw away all their beloved (and pretty expensive, in some cases) gadgets just to make room for the latest models. These being said, I think a new black beauty from Bose would come in handy for all iPod users, so here it is!

What just happened is the introduction of the second generation Bose SoundDock, a digital music system that is the first "Works with iPhone-"certified product coming from Bose.<-125x125 Button - right->

The Bose SoundDock Series II only looks a bit different to the previous generation, but it comes with a few new features, the most important being its ability to support both the iPhone 3G and the old iPhone without requiring to use the Airplane Mode while docked. Even more, a new auxiliary input allows that other MP3 and CD players to be connected, as well as various music phones.

Obviously, the iPods and iPhones are being charged while connected to the SoundDock, while the infrared remote allows easy navigation of the devices' content.

Expected to become available in early September, the Bose SoundDock Series II will only come in black, for a price of $299, while the original SoundDock will keep its $229 price tag, and if you want a white iPod dock, you should get that one...or paint your Series II in white!

...queues! Can you believe it? I understand those working to make fake iPhones, but why would one even bother to set up fake queues in front of the stores selling iPhones? Since it happens in Poland, I think we should look back a little into the history. If you didn't know, this country was, for a few decades, under Russian influence, and so a lot of normal things, like food, became luxury, and was often rationalized. Even this way, sometimes there wasn't enough, so very long queues were formed in front of stores, as it happened in most ex-communist countries at various times during the years before 1990. This lead to a very strong "herd mentality," and now it seems Orange Poland wants to take advantage of that!

According to an anonymous source that is implied in work for Orange's Polish branch quoted by Reuters, while some people paid pretty big amounts of money to be the first in line in the US, in Poland it's the other way around - people are getting paid to line up. If they would also give them iPhones for free, that would really be cool...

The anonymouse source said "We have these fake queues at front of 20 stores around the country to drum up interest in the iPhone,"<-250x250 Square - right-> claiming that the Polish mobile carrier is paying dozens of actors to stand in queues. Now, that's a new form of marketing, what else can I say?!?

While potential buyers could stay away because Orange's subscription costs, the other carrier delivering the iPhone to Polish customers, Era, doesn't have really affordable plans for technology geeks either, since the base plan is $43 per month, offering 150 minutes/450 SMSs/500MB of data, but the next step already takes you up to $88, for 350 minutes/1050 SMSs/2GB of data. Regarding the premium plan...you don't want to know about it, believe me!

So, this is the new stuff regarding the fake iPhone queues in Poland. If sales are not going to be as good as expected, I wouldn't be surprised to see actors hired to walk on the street with "drone iPhones," just to make them more popular...:)
