Every time someone is using a protective case for a certain device, the identity of the original fades away a little. I know, I know - in particular cases, it is also possible for a portable media player or a mobile phone to look better with a case, than without it, but I think that best way to protect your gadgets is to use a invisible case! Don't worry, I am as sane as usual, just that Zagg announced its invisibleSHIELD protective film for the iPhone 3G, so here we are!

Zagg invisibleSHIELD

So, why this protective film and not one of those thousand products that seem to be the same? <-180x150 Small Rectangle - right->Here's what Zagg has to say about this:"ZAGG's invisibleSHIELD™ is a thin polyurethane film originally created for the military to protect the leading edge of helicopter blades. What's unique about this military-grade, patented film is how tough it is - it doesn't scratch. What makes ZAGG's exclusive invisibleSHIELD™ so strong, flexible and scratch-proof? Its Nano-Memory technology™. With this technology, it also allows it to curve and contour around an entire device (not just the screen) and adhere to the device unless you want to remove it (without leaving adhesive)."

So...military technology on your hands? Sure, bring it on! I always say that "seeing is believing," so what can be better than to watch some YouTube videos showing the invisibleSHIELD in action? I know! Having this great product protecting your iPhone 3G...but first, you'll have to get that iPhone, don't you think?

More than just the iPhone or the iPod touch, the invisibleSHIELD can be used with over 2,500 handheld devices, including the LG Voyager and the BlackBerry Curve, or at least that's what Zagg is claiming. Even more, if you have an exotic device, you can get a custom design to fit it.

At last, you should know that the Zagg invisibleSHIELD for iPhone 3G is only available for pre-ordering now, but shipping will start in the next 24 hours, so be sure to hurry up and take advantage of the 20% discount still available!

The iPhone 2.0 firmware update was delayed once, twice, I can't really remember how many time, and it doesn't really matter, after all. Soon, the iPhone 2.0 update will finally arrive, and today I have some interesting information regarding it. First, there's a very handy feature that may be included, and second, and most important, the rumor says the iPhone 2.0 should be ready by Friday...

iPhone 2.0 Announced

<-234x60 Half Banner - left->Do you have p0rn on your iPhone? Don't worry, I won't tell anyone! In some situations, best thing to do is erase it all, and be sure that nobody will ever be able to recover the compromising data. According to sources using the latest iPhone 2.0 Beta release, the "Erase All Content and Settings" feature has now a different warning message, suggesting that the wiping process is more serious than before. From "This will delete all media and data, All settings will be reset as well," the message turned into "This will delete all media and data, and reset all settings. This will take about an hour."

At last, it should be noted that various sources close to Apple are saying that most chances are for the iPhone 2.0 software to be ready by this Friday, just in time to reach developers all around the world 2 weeks in advance of the 3G iPhone official release.

Nothing is official yet, so hang on - only about two more weeks of waiting...

Greenpeace seems to have something against Apple, but considering that the iPhone 3G has more plastic than the previous model, ranking the Cupertino-based company pretty low in its rankings is somehow justified. I may have said this again, and I say it once more - it's not all about money, so if you can choose between a "green" product and one that may end up in a junkyard and spend a few hundred years until "fading away," try making a small effort and get the "greenie." Your grandchildren may thank you one day for this...

A Greener Apple

"For example, all new models of iMac and the MacBook Air have bromine-free casings and printed circuit board laminates as well as PVC-free internal cables. Millions of iPods now have bromine-free enclosures and printed circuit board laminates. The MacBook Air also has mercury free LCD display with arsenic-free glass. MacBook Pros come with mercury-free LED backlit displays. Apple scores poorly on most e-waste criteria, except for reporting a recycling rate in 2006 of 9.5% as a percentage of sales 7 years ago. <-234x60 Half Banner - right->It does only slightly better on energy criteria, failing to score on all criteria except energy efficiency of products, where it scores top marks (doubled) for all desktops computers, portable PCs and displays complying with Energy Star 4.0 and their iPod and iPhone power adapters not only exceeding the Energy Star standard, but already meeting California’s stricter efficiency regulations that take effect 1 July 2008," says Greenpeace, so there are also good things about Apple's products and protecting the environment.

The top we're talking about, called "Greenpeace Guide to Greener Electronics," only has 18 positions, so Apple's 11th place is not that bad, but not too good, either. Sony and Sony Ericsson got the first positions, both with a 5.1 score, followed by Nokia(4.8), Samsung and Dell, both with a 4.5 rating, and no less than 5 companies that scored 4.3 - HP, Motorola, Acer, Panasonic, and Toshiba.

At last, I would like to ask you a simple question: did you ever think about the environment when purchasing a product, not necessary an Apple one? Tell us more than just "yes" or "no!"

First of all, a statement you can't deny - the Internet is for porn. Stop opposing this idea and accept the way things are. I am not addicted to porn, but I have nothing against it either. I think McDonald's and Coca-Cola in excess are more dangerous, but let's avoid getting into a fight over this, because I am sure a lot of people think otherwise. OK, so we have this - the Internet IS for porn (don't visit the link if you're offended by some moderate sexual references), and the iPhone 3G is a pretty fast Internet capable phone, with a large screen well suited for watching video...

iPhone 3G Porn

According to Time, the term "iPhone porn" became really popular in the last year with those searching on Google, and I am sure "iPhone 3G porn" will have the same fate. After all, the iPhone 3G will be much better than the original iPhone when it comes to surfing the Internet and, whether you like it or not, the iPhone 3G will be a much better device for mobile porn.

As expected, Apple doesn't have an official position regarding this matter yet, and probably they won't say anything in the future, either. After all, what's there to say? Do you get any paper from your ISP when signing the contract, saying that porn is forbidden for those not having the legal age? I didn't get anything like that, and - related to the iPhone and iPhone 3G pornography - I guess best think is to get an iPod for your kids, and a very basic mobile. But..what am I saying here? There's no way to keep teenagers away from porn, so best thing to do is talk with them about it!

Now, I don't understand why watch porn on your mobile when the computer at home should be better suited for this purpose, but I won't explain anything. Here's what a reader of iPhone Alley had to say about the topic:"Since the day I stood in line for the iphone launch, my iPhone has been used for at least 50% porn, be it iPod video, or the Photos App, or Safari! I'm actually waiting for a 32gb version before I upgrade to the 3g iPhone because mine won't hold enough porn! Seriously, I like porn a lot. Cheers!" Need I say more?

No matter what kind of media can be played on a device you're buying for your living room, it must have a dock for iPods. Why? I am not crazy about trends, and I don't even care about such things in my life, I always buy what I consider to be useful, but sometimes I also think about my friends. Here's a situation: most of your friends have iPods, so when you invite them to a party, one of them says something about a song you never heard of. "Here, I have it on my iPod, out it on your stereo system!" Would you like to end up saying "my stereo system doesn't have a dock?" Pretty embarrassing, if you ask me. Well, here's today's solution to such a problem - iLuv i1255!

iLuv i1255

<-180x150 Small Rectangle - left->Priced at $149.99, the iLuv i1255 is a 5.1 channel slim desktop iPod/DVD hybrid player, able to play DVD media, as well as music stored on iPods. The feature list has two sections - one iPod-related, and the other, containing features connected to the DVD player of the device, as it follows:

Features for Your iPod
• Watch your favorite iPod videos on your TV
• Play and charge your iPod with i1255
• Provides full control of your iPod with the included remote control
• Navigate your iPod videos or music on your TV screen with convenient OSD (On-Screen Display) specially designed for your iPod
• Capable of outputting your favorite videos or music from your iPod to your TV through S-Video or AV output
• Integrated dock for your iPod touch, iPod classic, iPod nano 3rd Gen. and iPod with video

Features for DVD Player
• Watch your favorite DVD videos on your TV through component video output and coaxial digital audio output
• Front tray type DVD mechanism
• Featured with convenient OSD (On-Screen Display)
• Multiple subtitle, angle, and audio functions
• Slow- and fast-motion playback and zoom operation
• Playable Media: DVD / VCD / MP3 CD / Audio CD / JPEG CD / Kodak Picture CD

When talking about compatibility, iLuv claims the i1255 is capable of working with the iPod touch, iPod classic, third-generation iPod nano, and fifth-generation iPod with video, and I guess this should be enough for most people, although adding iPhone 3G docking capability would also be a great idea, but that would require a new dock, so the price of the device would probably go higher...
